More than a Feeling

Do you ever wish that you could just hand someone a feeling?  Because words just don’t do it justice.  Well, I’m not saying that God is not anything more than a feeling.  Being in the presence of the Holy Spirit leaves an undeniable truth in our hearts, that God is very real, and very near to us.  His love is deep and so great, for all of us.  That’s right, I said all of us.  God has a love for each one of us that is unconditional.  The reason Christians spread the good word of God, is not because we want you to know God so that he will love you. It’s because God already loves you and with your free will, you must choose to acknowledge Him as God and accept Jesus Christ into your heart.  There has not been a day that has passed by, that God did not love you.  Through all your mistakes and hardships, even the worst imaginable sin.  The reason he is not present in your life is because having him in your life, is a choice that you get to decide.  God has always seen you and been waiting to be there for you.

(“El Roi” = The God who sees me.  “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” Genesis 16:13)

There is often a misconception of Christianity related to religion and related to those representing the church.  To many this misconception is what stands in the gap between them and being saved.  The fact is that if we are human on this earth and living & breathing in this world, we are far from perfect.  Our God is perfect and without flaw, we serve him as he serves us.  It took me many years to learn that my decision to deepen my relationship to God should not be made based on what I deducted by observing other Christians.  However, the reason to work on this relationship with God, was because of God himself.  We are imperfect.  But if only just had this feeling, that God gives me.  Once you understand, the judgement you once had on yourself and others – fades tremendously.  Because through the Holy Spirit you acquire grace.

My best attempt at giving you a “feeling” that would help you receive and understand the love, peace and joy of my God is through prayer and testimony.  We stand a greater chance of saving others and introducing them to the one God of creation when we pray for God to work on their heart.

Why do I want to share the gospel of my God with others?  Giving our testimony and spreading the good news is what we are called to do.  However, I know what it’s like to be broken hearted and lost, the terrible feelings and moments in life that pass by.  I have been blessed enough to have been saved by Jesus Christ, son of God and he has shown his mercy to me in my darkest hours.  It is during those times of despair that I truly understood his love for me.  To know the comfort of my God, is to know true love.  When you have been broken hearted, you have a tenderness and empathy that needs to be shared with others to mend.  Life will always have ups and downs, but God won’t leave you during those times.  (“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalms 147:3

Each time I pick up my bible, it speaks to me in a different way.  As they say, “You don’t read your bible, your bible reads you.” I can always find the message I need within the Holy Bible.  So, even though I’ve lived a life of being Christian for many years, I have not always understood God they way that I do now. Sometimes, we think we have learned the lesson at hand and really found a good grasp on the concepts the bible is trying to teach us.  But when encountered with the application of those lessons, we find we don’t always follow what we have learned.  My point is, you can read the bible when you’re 18 and then again at 38, the same bible has a fresh new meaning and lesson.

I say all of this to say, this easter season is meant to celebrate the crucifixion of Christ.  The Jesus who walked this earth and endured a life of heartache and sorrow, knowing that his fate would be on a cross for us.  His love and compassion for each and every one of us, so great, that his perfect life given so that we may have life.  I know that not make much sense to you, if you aren’t familiar with the Bible.  Without knowing this joy and peace, that I have because of Jesus.  But I invite you to take this story I’ve shared with you, that costs you nothing and will give you everything – and give accepting Jesus into consideration.

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12:11

As long as you have breath in your lungs, God is not done with you.  That’s why I don’t let my perception of the church decide if I am going to be a Christian and with God.  We are all growing in the word, and we are all on different walks in our journey to Christ.   (“GOD can give you boldness, power, love and a sound mind.” Devotional on depression) **insert ** He will walk with you to the grave.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that fully well.”  Psalms 139:13-14

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declared the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.  Matthew 11:28-30
